After our pleasant experience at the remarkable zoo in Omaha last week, I thought it might be fun to take K to the Elmwood Park Zoo -- a small but sweet little zoo that is very close.
It was a wonderful surprise for both of us that they offer pony rides! They also have a wonderful playground area. This zoo is just geared for younger kids. We now have an annual membership there too.
After our big morning, these pals curled up with a 'blankie' and puzzle to unwind.

Ethyn and I had a membership to our little local zoo, and what a great thing it was. I have a feeling that Kiran will love it, especially after seeing the darling kitten photos... so cute!!

Leslie I LOVE the new header you made. Atticus and Kiran have to be the 2 most photogenic and expressive pair I've ever seen. They are both gorgeous!! I last saw K when he was few months old & swear he gets cuter by the day! :) I've been swamped this week and am now heading to the beach, but plan on working on my blog when I get back. thanks again for some of your tricks of the trade :)

That’s a very nice place for children. It made me wish we have one here in my place.
hahaha! and it looks like both k and the dog are exhausted on that trip. Glad to have someone to curled up with.
I came upon your blog by chance. I just love your photos and your snippets. Great blog.
What a fun pony ride.
Makes me happy every time I come to your blog.
Dear Stiffie:
I think it is wonderful that Kiran will always associate his first pony ride -- and all that fun -- with you! A boy's first pony ride is a very special event in his life... And it looks like Kiran will expect you to repeat this experience many times. He is so lucky to have a Meemaw like you -- to think up all these fun things for him to do.
I was at a kind of zoo myself today. I was canted over in a tight right turn on Skyline Drive in Virginia, when I aw the cutest pair of deer. In fact, my motorcycle passed between them at about 45 mph. I said the most amazing things, when I remembered to breathe again.
Your pictures capture life... Then release it again when it is needed most.
I remain,
The man from the office attached to your kitchen, presently on assignment in a run-down hotel by a Civil War Battlefield.
Sometimes, the only thing that helps you unwind is a puzzle. I like a puzzle of the states, where the states are shaped like states, but sometimes that's too nervewracking and I need a puzzle with a picture of jello where the pieces look like a big flan of jello and a dish.
It depends on the horse, really.
What great photos. But you don't need me to tell you!
this last pic!! i love it...
and yep, atticus is looking as wise as ever. : )
Ohhhh look at those little shoes....Look at those sweet faces...I'm getting all broody just looking at your photographs, Leslie. :)
